In August, 85 Burnett offices around the world celebrated 79 years, and each of us was given the remit to check off 79 things before Leo Burnett turns 80. From sharing tea with a colleague in London to hailing a water taxi in Chicago, the “bucket list” varies from office to office, but it is meant to encourage participation – and the thrill that comes with it.

The Burnettwork. It’s coming. But what is it?

Leo Burnett Worldwide will soon launch a new global intranet, one that will inform and engage our people on much of what is happening every day around our network.

The focus? You. The people of Leo Burnett. For the first time in the agency’s history, The Burnettwork will allow us to be truly and fully networked. You will have the power to post, share, ask and interact. This tool will make us smarter – from new business pitches to strategy insights, powerful campaigns to idea sharing, our ability to learn from one another and inspire each other will be at our fingertips.

This summer, Chicago employees were busy doing good. Through our Leo Love program we provided volunteer opportunities as well as raised a generous amount of money to benefit our seven nonprofit partners.

• Our 79th Anniversary donation stations collected $28,000 in cash and matching gifts within a three-hour window.

• Fundraisers hosted by agency groups such as the Women’s Leadership Network (WLN), Minority Employee Resource Group (MERG), client teams and our duplicating center brought in over $5,000.

• 100 volunteers grabbed at the opportunity to make a home-cooked meal for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.

• Employees from across the agency along with many enthusiastic children jumped into Off The Street Club’s pool during the Third Thursday event in July. The night ended around a campfire, complete with roasting marshmallows and a sing-along.
